Foreign sailor dies falling off ship at Ctg port
CHATTOGRAM, Sept 07, 2020 (BSS) – A foreign sailor died after falling into river from the hedge of ‘MV Talia H’ ship at Chattogram port this afternoon.
The victim was identified as Joel de Brenda, 35, a citizen of Philippines.
Md Erfan, manager of Renu shipping line, said that Joel de Brenda slipped and fell into the river while closing the ship’s hedge cover. He died on the way to the Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) after being rescued in critical condition.
The body of the sailor will be sent back to his country or buried according to the religious rites as per the instructions of the principal or owner of the ship, Erfan added.
