Unilever, BAT, banglalink deposit Tk 17cr to Workers’ Welfare Fund

DHAKA, Sept 6, 2020 (BSS) – Three companies –- Unilever Bangladesh Ltd, British American Tobacco and banglalink -– today deposited a certain portion of their profit amounting Taka 17.05 crore to the Bangladesh Workers’ Welfare Foundation under the Ministry of Labour and Employment.

Representatives from the three companies handed over cheques containing the certain portion of their profit for the last one year to the State Minister for Labour and Employment Begum Munnujan Sufian.

Out of the amount, a four-member delegation of British American Tobacco, led by its Human Resources Division Chief Sad Jashim, handed over a cheque of Taka 9,15,99,575 to the State Minister. Besides, another four-member delegation of Unilever Bangladesh Limited, led by its company secretary Rashedul Quiyum handed over two cheques worth Taka 7,66,52,759 to the State Minister on behalf of the Unilever Bangladesh Limited and Unilever Consumer Care.

Besides, another three-member delegation of mobile phone operator banglalink, led by its stakeholder relations chief Hasinul Quddus, handed over a cheque of Taka 22,23,929 to the State Minister.

According to the Ministry, a total of over Taka 460 crore has been deposited to this fund so far.

Ministry Secretary KM Abdus Salam, Additional Secretary and Bangladesh Workers’ Welfare Foundation Secretary General Dr Molla Jalal Uddin were present, among others, on the occasion.
