Foreign missions mourn fatalities at N’ganj mosque blast

DHAKA, Sept 6, 2020 (BSS) – Number of foreign missions here including Australia, Canada and China have expressed their deep condolences at the fatalities in the air conditioner (AC) explosion at a mosque in Narayanganj on Friday night.

“We are deeply saddened by this tragic loss of life,” the Canadian High Commission said at its official facebook page while extending its condolences to the families and friends of the victims.

Similarly, the Australian High Commission here expressed its deepest condolences to the families and friends of all who lost their lives in the tragic explosion. “We wish those injured a speedy recovery,” it added.

The Chinese embassy also extended deepest condolences to the bereaved families and solidarity to all the victims.

“We are deeply shocked … we mourn the passing of those devoted Muslims and pray for the quickest recovery of the injured,” it said in its official facebook page.

The death toll in air conditioner (AC) explosion at a Narayanganj mosque reached 24 after four more died from burn injuries till 10am today, an official said.

A number of 13 people, who are in critical condition, are now undergoing treatment at the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka Medical College Hospital here.

At least 50 people suffered severe burn injuries in the AC blast at Pashchim Talla Baitus Salah Mosque in Narayanganj around 8.30 pm on Friday.
