Kamal Mojumder for handing over Dhaka canals to City Corporation through MoU
DHAKA, Sept 6, 2020 (BSS) – State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Mojumder today called for rescuing canals in Dhaka Metropolitan area, excavating them and constructing walkways and green fences on both sides and handing them over to city corporation through a memorandum of understanding (MoU).
“The city corporation must ensure that no dirt is dumped in the canal. Dirt should be disposed of in a specific place and the place should be kept clean and tidy regularly,” he said.
The state minister made the remark at the third meeting of the taskforce on navigability of important rivers of the country and taking necessary steps to maintain the normal flow of the river, said a press release.
Kamal Mojumder joined the meeting through online at the initiative of the Ministry of Shipping.
State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury presided over the meeting.
At the meeting, Kamal Mojumder said that the suffering of the citizens in the entire Dhaka metropolitan area, including Mirpur, is not ending due to repeated excavation of roads by the various departments and agencies.
He said coordination among the institutions involved in civic services needs to be strengthened.
