63 tested positive for COVID-19, one die in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Sept 4, 2020 (BSS) – A total of 63 more people were detected positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours after testing 655 samples at five COVID-19 laboratories in Chattogram district.

Health experts opined that coronavirus infection has decreased again in the district.

“The rate of infection and the number of infections have also decreased compared to the last few days. The latest report showed that 63 new positive cases were detected while the infection rate is 10.39 percent,” they mentioned.

A total of 279 patients have so far died till today due to the coronavirus only in Chattogram district with today’s single death.

Among the newly detected people, 54 are from Chattogram city and nine from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.

The total number of infected patients now stands at 17,363 in Chattogram district, Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chattogram, told BSS today.

Of the total 17,300 coronavirus infected persons, 12,382 are the residents of the port city and the rest 4,986 are the inhabitants of different upazilas of the district.

The total number of recovered patients from coronavirus rose to 4,809 with the healing of 57 more people in the past 24 hours.

“The healed patients were discharged from different home isolations and Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospitals of the district as two consecutive real-time PCR tests were found negative,” he said.

“The percentage of recovery rate stands at 27.69 percent in the district,” Dr Rabbi added.
