More 37 positive tests for coronavirus in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Sept 3, 2020 (BSS) – Thirty-seven more people were tested
positive for coronavirus today at the COVID-19 Laboratory in Rangpur
Medical College (RpMC) in the city.

Health officials said the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim
Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur district town in Rangpur division
could not conduct test of collected samples as the machines there are
facing some technical problems.

“We are making the necessary repairs to resume tests of collected
samples for COVID-19 infections within the next three to five days,”
Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Shibesh Sarker told BSS over cell
phone at 8:40 pm.

However, the 37 new infected cases were reported after diagnosing
188 samples collected from Rangpur, Gaibandha, Lalmonirhat and
Kurigram districts at the COVID-19 Laboratories at RpMC in Rangpur
city.

“The new 37 patients include 13 of Rangpur, nine of Lalmonirhat, 10
of Gaibandha and five of Kurigram districts,” said Chief of Divisional
Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of RpMC
Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu.

Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for
Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the total number of COVID-19
patients stridently rose to 10,765 as 37 new cases were reported today
from across the division.

“The district-wise break up of the total 10,765 patients now stands
at 2,518 in Rangpur, 537 in Panchagarh, 958 in Nilphamari, 743 in
Lalmonirhat, 816 in Kurigram, 992 in Thakurgaon, 3,167 in Dinajpur and
1,034 Gaibandha districts,” he added.
