More 107 tests positive for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Sept 2, 2020 (BSS) – More 107 people were tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) today at the two COVID-19 laboratories– Rangpur and Dinajpur– in the division.

Health officials said the newly infected cases were reported today after diagnosing 470 samples collected from all eight districts in the division.

Of them, 38 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19 laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“Among the new 38 patients, 23 of Rangpur, nine of Lalmonirhat and six of Gaibandha districts,” said Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu.

On the other hand, 69 more new patients were reported after diagnosing 282 samples at the COVID-19 laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur district town.

“Among the 69 new COVID-19 patients, 37 of Dinajpur, 14 of Thakurgaon, 11 of Nilphamari and seven of Panchagarh districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Shibesh Sarker told BSS after completing the testing process at 7:20 pm.

Talking to BSS, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the total number of coronavirus patients stridently rose to 10,736 as 107 new cases were reported today from across the division.

“The district-wise break-up of the total 10,736 patients currently stands at 2,509 in Rangpur, 537 in Panchagarh, 957 in Nilphamari, 735 in Lalmonirhat, 811 in Kurigram, 992 in Thakurgaon, 3,172 in Dinajpur and 1,023 Gaibandha districts,” he added.
