Momen signs condolence book, pays homage to Pranab Mukherjee

DHAKA, Sept 2, 2020 (BSS) – Foreign Minister Dr A K Abdul Momen
today signed the condolence book in memory of Pranab Mukherjee as
Bangladesh observed one-day national mourning in respect to former
Indian president, who died on Monday.

After signing the condolence book at the Indian High Commission
here, the foreign minister paid homage on behalf of the Bangladesh
government and its people, a foreign ministry press release said.

Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Riva Ganguly was present.

Momen said Bangladesh has lost one of its ‘true friends’ at the
demise of ‘Bharat Ratna’ Pranab Mukherjee, the first Banglaee
president of India.

“He (Mukherjee) is our pride and the Banglee nation is obliged to
him,” the foreign minister said.

In respect of memory of Mukherjee while observing the mourning day
here today, Bangladesh national flag was hoisted half-mast at all
government, semi-government and autonomous offices, educational
institutions and at all missions abroad.

Special prayer was also offered at the concerned places of worships
across the country.

Pranab Mukherjee, the 13th president of India, breathed his last on
Monday after fighting for life for 21 days at a hospital in New Delhi.
He was 84.
