Speaker mourns death of Pranab Mukherjee

DHAKA, Aug 31, 2020 (BSS) – Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury today expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of former Indian President Pranab Mukherjee, calling him a “true friend” of Bangladesh.

In a condolence message, the speaker said, “At the death of Pranab Mukherjee, a prominent politician on the subcontinent, India lost a prudent and patriotic leader and Bangladesh lost a nearest one”.

He will remain alive as a glittering star in the politics of the subcontinent, Shirin said.

She prayed for salvation of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.

JS Deputy Speaker Md Fazle Rabbi Miah and Chief Whip Nur-E-Alam Chowdhury also expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Pranab Mukherjee and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family members.

Pranab Mukherjee breathed his last around 6.15 pm today at the age of 84.
