BKSP ready to help Shakib prepare for International cricket
DHAKA, Aug 30, 2020 (BSS) – The Bangladesh Krira Shikhskha Protishthan
(BKSP) is ready to welcome Shakib Al Hasan, who wants to practice here in a
bid to make his return to the cricket smooth one.
Shakib is all set to land the country tomorrow (Monday) from USA, his
family members confirmed.
They also said the ace all-rounder would like to keep him prepared and
made his room to the national straightway once his ban ends on October 29.
Therefore he emphasized on starting practice from September under the
guidance of his two favourite coaches-Nazmul Abedin Fahim and Mohammad
Salahuddin. Both of the coaches nursed him from the childhood when he was the
student of BKSP.
Nazmul Abedin Fahim now is the advisor of BKSP after working in BCB’s
game development department for quite long time while Salauddin is now a
professional coach.
However, Shakib won’t not have the opportunity to return to practice
straightway. After completing the 14-day quarantine, the all-rounder will
start training on his own initiative. Shakib flew to the United States before
the Coronavirus outbreak in the country.
“Shakib will train at BKSP. He will return to the country next Monday
and will be in mandatory quarantine. After that, if the report is negative
after testing the coronavirus, he will get a chance to practice in BKSP,”
Fahim said.
Shakib was banned from the cricket due to his failure to report the
corrupt approaches of bookies to ICC. As his ban will be lifted on October
29, the all-rounder will have a chance to play in the second Test against Sri
Lanka. Shakib however will not be able to use any facilities of BCB for
practice during the ban period but he can use the BKSP’s facilities to keep
him prepared, Fahim added.
The Bangladesh team will tour Sri Lanka in October for a three-match
Test series, starting on October 24. If all goes well, Shakib will have a
chance to play the second and last Test.
