Woman held with 57 gold bars in Benapole

DHAKA, Aug 28, 2020 (BSS) – Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB)
arrested a female smuggler with 57 gold bars weighing around 9.2 kilograms
from Benapole in Jashore district last night.

The arrested was identified as Banesa Khatun, 45, wife of Dukhu Miah of
Sadipur village under Benapole Police Station, said Lt Col Md Selim Reza,
commanding officer of BGB-49 Battalion.

On a tip-off, a team of the elite force conducted a raid in Sadipur
Primary School area on Friday night and nabbed Banesa along with the gold
bars worth about Taka 5.70 crore, the BGB official said.

Later, a case was filed with Benapole Port police Station in this
connection and the arrested person along with the seized goods were handed
over to the police today, he added.
