3 accused in Sinha murder case remanded afresh

COX’S BAZAR, Aug 28, 2020 (BSS) – A court here today granted a fresh
three-day remand for three accused, including suspended
officer-in-charge of Teknaf police station Pradeep Kumar Das, in a
case filed over the murder of retired army Major Sinha Mohammad Rashed
Khan.

The two other accused are suspended inspector Liaqat Ali and
sub-inspector Nanda Dulal Rakshit.

Cox’s Bazar Senior Judicial Magistrate Tamanna Farah passed the
order as the accused were produced before the court after completion
of their second-term of four-day remand, investigation officer (IO) of
the case and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-15) senior assistant
superintendent of police Khairul Islam said.

The accused were produced before Senior Judicial Magistrate Court
(Teknaf-3) at 3pm seeking a four-day fresh remand to question the
accused to obtain further information regarding murder, but after the
hearing, the judge granted three-day remand, he added.

On August 24, the same court granted a four-day remand for second
term against seven accused, including Pradeep, Liaqat and Rakshit,
when they were produced before the court after completion of a
seven-day remand in the first phase.

Ex-major of army Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan was killed in police
firing at a police check-post on Marine Drive road in Teknaf of Cox’s
Bazar district on July 31.

On August 5, Sinha’s elder sister Sharmin Shahria Ferdous filed the
case against nine, including Teknaf Police Station officer-in-charge
Prodip Kumar Das and sub-inspector Liakat Ali.
