Mozammel urges journalists to keep an eye against conspiracies

DHAKA, Aug 26, 2020 (BSS) – Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque today urged the journalists to keep a watchful eye on the development of the government and all conspiracies against the country.

He made the call while addressing a virtual discussion jointly organized by Bangladesh Journalists Rights Forum (BJRF) and Gazipur Journalists Union at Bangladesh Press Council auditorium this afternoon.

Mozammel said, the anti-independence forces wanted to destroy the spirit of the Liberation War by killing Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members on August 15, 1975.

The same evil force wanted to dethrone the Awami League by assassinating the leaders of the Awami League, including Sheikh Hasina, the heir apparent of the Father of the Nation, on August 21, 2004, he added.

He further said, the Awami League government came to power and completed the trial of the murder of the Father of the Nation and his family. The trial of the August 21 grenade attack is going on, he said adding that the process of trials for all the murders will be completed in time.

The minister vowed to bring the perpetrators of the killings to justice as well as bring the masterminds of the killings to book.

BJRF General Secretary Ataur Rahman presented the keynote paper at the discussion meeting chaired by BJRF President Azizul Islam Bhuiyan.

Among others, Bangladesh Press Council Chairman Justice Momtaz Uddin Ahmed, President of Dhaka Union of Journalists Kuddus Afrad, President of Bangladesh Upazila Chairman Association Harun-or-Rashid Haoladar and Office Secretary of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists Barun Bhowmik Nayan also took part at the discussion.
