DHAKA, Aug 24, 2020 (BSS) – Election Commission (EC) Senior
Secretary Md. Alamgir said the government is forming a commission to
update the laws of local government bodies.
He said this while talking to reporters about the draft Local
Government Election Act-2020 after a meeting of the commission today.
The EC secretary said, “We have talked to the secretary of the
local government ministry and they will also form a commission to
update their laws. If that commission is formed then maybe the issues
of this amendment will also be discussed in that commission. There
will be proposals for necessary amendments.”
