3 APBn men taken in RAB custody for interrogation over Sinha murder

COX’S BAZAR, Aug 22, 2020 (BSS) – Three members of Armed Police Battalion (APBn) were taken into RAB custody from jail today for interrogation in a case filed over the killing of Major (Retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan.

“A team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) brought the tree APBn members from Cox’s Bazar prison around 11:40am today,” Senior ASP of RAB Khairul Islam, also the investigation officer (IO) of the murder case, told BSS.

The three APBn members are Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Shahjahan and constables Razib and Abdullah, he said, adding that they were first taken to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for health checkup and later taken to RAB-15 headquarters here for interrogation.

On August 17, the RAB took them for interrogation. Later, on August 18, they were placed before court, showing arrested in the murder case and the court granted a seven-day remand for them.

The APBn men were on duty at the Shamlapur check post on July 31 night, yards away from the spot where Sinha was killed.

A total of 13 people, including four policemen, have so far been placed on remand in the case filed by Sinha’s sister Sharmin Shahria Ferdous over the murder.

Seven of them have already been placed before the court after interrogation in remand while withdrawn Teknaf Police Station officer in-charge Prodip Kumar Das and inspector Liakat Ali and sub-inspector (SI) Nanda Dulal Rakkhit are still in remand for fifth consecutive day.
