Light to moderate rain likely across country

DHAKA, Aug 16, 2020 (BSS) – Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers in different parts of the country in the next 24 hours commencing at 9am today.

“Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at most places over Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, Dhaka and Sylhet divisions and at many places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, and Mymensingh divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over the country,” said a met office release here today.

Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and strong over North Bay, the release added.

Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

Maximum temperature on Saturday was recorded 34.2 degrees Celsius jointly at Sylhet in Sylhet division and Badalgachhi in Rajshahi division and today’s minimum temperature 24.0 degrees Celsius was recorded at Cox’s Bazar in Chattogram division.

Maximum rainfall for the last twenty four hours till 6am today was recorded 155 millimeters (mm) at Cox’s bazar.

The sun sets at 6.31 pm today and rises at 5.34 am tomorrow in the capital.
