Aug 15 carnage most brutal political killing in world history: Khasru

NETRAKONA Aug 15, 2020 (BSS) – State minister for social welfare and renowned freedom fighter Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru today said the carnage of August 15, 1975 was the most brutal political assassination as the killers did not hesitate to gun down the innocent family members of Bangabandhu.

“The August 15 massacre was the most barbarous political killing in the history of world as disobedient and ambitious army officers shot down the innocent and non -political family members of Bangabandhu, including minor boy Rassel ” he said.

Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru stated these while addressing as chief guest a discussion meeting at local Public Hall here. The meeting was organized by Netrakona district administration to mark the 45th martyrdom anniversary of Bangabandhu and the National Mourning Day.

Chaired by Deputy commissioner Netrakona Kazi Abdur Rahman, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Habiba Rahman Khan Shefali, MP, Chairman of Netrakona Zila parishad Prasanra Kumar Ray, Police Super Netrakona Akber Ali Munshi and Mayor of Netrakona pourasava Nazrul Islam Khan and General Secretary of district Red Crescent Society Gazi Muzammel Hussain Tuku.

The killers had not only carried out the massacre, but also promulgated indemnity ordinance to save the killers and their godfathers or conspirators, Khasru said, adding that the perpetrators of the massacre of August 15 are still hatching conspiracy to tarnish the image of the democratically elected government and disrupt the current development trend of the government led by Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina

“So, all of us should forge greater unity and keep vigilance to foil the evil designs of those forces,” he said.

Later, the state minister distributed bank cheques amounting to taka 20 lakh and 50 thousand among 41 patients of incurable diseases, including cancer, kidney and heart ailments and liver cirrhosis at Netrakona Press Club here.

Each of the patients got a cheque for Taka 50,000.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Netrakona Kazi Abdur Rahman, Deputy Director of District Social Service Department Alal Uddin and president of district Mohila Awami League and prominent social worker Kamrunnesa Ashraf were present at the cheque distribution function.
