Bangabandhu sacrificed his life to establish people’s right: KCC Mayor

KHULNA, Aug 14, 2020 (BSS) – Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khaleque here on Friday said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman has dedicated his life to establish people’s social, economical and political rights.

“Bangabandhu had a dreamt to build Bangladesh as ‘Sonar Bangla’, a hunger, poverty and discrimination free country, where people can live happily,” he said as the chief guest while distributing foodstuff and cash money among destitute people at the KCC’s ward no-16 Councilor office marking the National Mourning Day.

He said Bangladesh imbued with the spirit of the Liberation War would not have been established if Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina would not return to the country in 1981.

Chaired by ward-16 Councilor Anisur Rahman Biswas, Awami League (AL) city unit General Secretary MDA Babul Rana, AL president of ward no16 Sheikh Abed Ullah and its general secretary Hasan Iftekhar, among others, addressed the function.

Speaking on the occasion, Babul Rana said those who were involved with creating the background to launch the August 15 massacre should be unmasked and their evil acts should be disclosed before the nation.

Earlier on Thursday afternoon, the KCC Mayor inaugurated a voluntary blood donation programme

marking the 45th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Khulna Sadar Thana AL organized the programme with the assistance of ‘Sandhani Blood Donour Club’, a voluntary blood donation social club, at the city AL office here. Sadar Thana AL President Advocate Saiful Islam chaired the function while its General Secretary Fakir Saiful Islam conducted it.
