Bangamata’s birth anniversary observed in Manikganj
MANIKGANJ Aug 8, 2020(BSS)- The 90th birth anniversary of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib was observed in the district as elsewhere in the upazila today in a befitting manner .
In observance of the day, district administration organized a discussion meeting with Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Manikganj S M Fedous in the chair .
Held at conference room of the DC , the discussion meeting was addressed among others by Fouzia Khan, Deputy Director, Local Government, Nina Rahman, President of Manikganj district Awami League, Lakxmi Chattarjee, Chairman of Jatiya Mohila Sangstha, Manikganj, Kazi Sheuli, President of Udichi, and Hosne Ara Begum, former principal of Khan Bahadur Awlad Hossain Khan College.
The speakers said Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa inspired the nation and scarified her life with a call for following advice of father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman during the hard days as Bangabandhu remained imprisoned for several times .
In observance of the anniversary, Singair Upazila Administration has chalked out limited programmes in the aftermath of COVID-19 pandemic .

Speaking on the occasion, Momtaj paid rich tributes to Bangamata and recalled his immense contributions for the nation with her courage and sacrifice in the critical juncture .
The function, presided over by Runa Laila, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), Singair was addressed among others by Rowshan Ara, Singair Upazila Women and Children Affairs Officer, Sharmin Akter, Upazila Woman Vice
President and Dewam Moniruzzaman, Singair Upazila Vice President of Awami League.
Later, M P Momtaj Begum distributed six sewing machine among six needy
women .
