115 more positive tests for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, July 31, 2020 (BSS) – More 115 people were tested positive
for coronavirus (COVID-19) today at two COVID-19 laboratories in
Rangpur division where a limited scale community transmission of the
deadly virus continues at places.

Health officials said the 115 new infected cases were reported after
diagnosing 376 samples collected from all eight districts in the
division at the two laboratories in Rangpur and Dinajpur.

Of them, 29 new patients were reported after diagnosing 94 samples
at the COVID-19 Laboratory today at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in
Rangpur city.

“The new 29 patients include 14 of Rangpur, seven of Lalmonirhat
and four each of Gaibandha and Kurigram districts,” said Chief of
Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal
of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu.

On the other hand, 86 more new patients were reported after
diagnosing 282 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim
Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur.

“The 86 new COVID-19 patients include 60 of Dinajpur, five of
Nilphamari, 13 of Thakurgaon and eight of Panchagarh districts,”
Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Shibesh Sarker told BSS after
completing the testing process at 7 pm.

Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur
division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the total number of COVID-19 patients
stridently rose to 6,299 as 115 new cases were reported from across
the division.

“The district-wise break up of the total 6,299 patients stands at
1,709 in Rangpur, 326 in Panchagarh, 664 in Nilphamari, 383 in
Lalmonirhat, 487 in Kurigram, 382 in Thakurgaon, 1,697 in Dinajpur and
651 Gaibandha,” he said.
