BARISHAL, July 30, 2020 (BSS) – Dubbing the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as media-friendly and people-centric, Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim today urged the journalists to publish positive news instead of negative ones that harm the country and its people in a big way.
The minister was speaking as the chief guest at a programme of journalists organised by Barishal Union of Journalists’ at the conference room of Barishal Circuit House.
Describing journalists as vanguards of the society, Rezaul urged them to refrain from publishing news that would harm the people, the society and the country.
“The government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is people-friendly. She is the best crisis manager. She knows very well how to work in crisis situation”, the minister said.
Among others, General Secretary of Barishal Union of Journalists’ Swapan Khandaker, President of Shaheed Abdur Rob Serniabat Press Club Advocate Manabendra Botbal, former President Advocate SM Iqbal, General Secretary of Pirojpur Press Club Fasiul Islam Bachchu and General Secretary of Jhalokati Press Club Advocate Ferdous Khan Emon were present in the program.
A total of 160 journalists from 4 districts of Barisal division were given cheques on the occasion.
