120 more positive tests for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, July 30, 2020 (BSS) – More 120 people were tested positive
for coronavirus (COVID-19) today at two COVID-19 laboratories in
Rangpur division where a limited scale community transmission of the
deadly virus continues at places.

Health officials said the 120 new infected cases were reported after
diagnosing 470 samples collected from all eight districts in the
division at the two laboratories in Rangpur and Dinajpur.

Of them, 47 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples
at the COVID-19 Laboratory today at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in
Rangpur city.

“The new 47 patients include 24 of Rangpur, two of Lalmonirhat, six
of Gaibandha, 14 of Kurigram and one of Nilphamari districts,” said
Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and
Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu.

On the other hand, 73 more new patients were reported after
diagnosing 282 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim
Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur.

“The 73 new COVID-19 patients include 50 of Dinajpur, 12 of
Nilphamari, four of Thakurgaon and seven of Panchagarh districts,”
Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Shibesh Sarker told BSS after
completing the testing process at 8 pm.

Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur
division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the total number of COVID-19 patients
stridently rose to 6,188 as 120 new cases were reported from across
the division.

“The district-wise break up of the total 6,188 patients currently
stands at 1,694 in Rangpur, 319 in Panchagarh, 660 in Nilphamari, 376
in Lalmonirhat, 484 in Kurigram, 369 in Thakurgaon, 1,641 in Dinajpur
and 645 Gaibandha of the division,” he added.
