Overhead cables on Gulshan Avenue will be shifted underground: Atiqul

DHAKA, July 30, 2020 (BSS)- All overhead cables on Gulshan Avenue will be laid underground by October 1, also, the price will not be increased at the consumer level.

The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) mayor Atiqul Islam at Gulshan Nagar Bhaban on Wednesday, said a release.

Underground transfers of the overhead cables will be implemented by – Summit Communications Ltd., Fiber at Home, Bahan Ltd., Cable Operators Association of Bangladesh (COAB), and Internet Service Providers Association of Bangladesh (ISPAB).

At the meeting, Atiqul said, “The existing overhead cables in all areas of the DNCC need to be moved underground for planned urbanization. To enhance the beauty of the DNCC area, the existing cables such as electric cables, internet cables, dish line cables, etc. will be moved underground in stages on a planned basis,” added the release.

It was also said in the meeting that, utility ducts will also be constructed in 18 new wards under the newly approved project of ECNEC for the development of extended areas of DNCC.
