UGC approves Tk 4643.50 crore for 40 public universities
DHAKA, June 27, 2018 (BSS) – University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh today approved the revised budget (non-development) for 2017-2018 fiscal year and budget (non-development) for 2018-2019 fiscal year for 40 public universities of the country.
The 151th Full Commission meeting of UGC was held with its chairman Professor Abdul Mannan in the chair, a press release said.
UGC Secretary Dr. Md. Khaled placed the budget before the meeting, it said.
The budget for 40 public universities for 2017-2018 fiscal year was Tk. 4152.01 crore which was increased in the revised budged to Tk. 4324.61 crore.
Budget for UGC for 2017-2018 fiscal year was Tk. 37.30 crore which was increased to Tk. 37.80 crore in the revised budget.
The meeting also approved the budget of Tk. 4643.50 crore for 40 public universities of the country for 2018-2019 fiscal year and budget Tk.38.05 crore for 2018-2019 fiscal year for UGC.
Md. Sohorab Hossain, Secretary, Secondary and Higher Education Division, Ministry of Education, Shamima Nargis, Member, Industry and Energy Division, Ministry of Planning, UGC Members- Professor Dr. Mohammad Yousuf Ali Mollah, Professor Dr. Dil Afroza Begum, Professor Dr. Md. Akhtar Hossain, Professor Dr. M. Shah Nowaz Ali, Professor Dr. Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury and vice chancellor of different public universities, among others, were present at the meeting.
