Hasan dubs Sajeeb Wazed Joy as architect of ‘Digital Bangladesh’

DHAKA, July 27, 2020 (BSS)- With the vision of streaming the country’s people with a slew of technology-based platforms and advanced devices for optimum gains, Sajeeb Wazed Joy has envisioned ‘Digital Bangladesh’ concept for elevating the country to the realm of developed nations, Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today said.

The information minister said the country has joined the fourth industrial revolution in proper time under the visionary leadership of Bangabandhu’s grandson Sajeeb Wazed Joy.

“Bangladesh has joined the fourth industrial revolution on just time as envisioned by Sajeeb Wazed Joy. And now the ‘Digital Bangladesh’ is being implemented under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” he said.

The information minister made the comments while unveiling the cover of a book named ‘Mujib theke Sajeeb’ marking the birthday of Prime Minister’s ICT Affairs Adviser and Bangabandhu’s grandson Sajeeb Wazed Joy at the meeting room of his ministry at Secretariat here.

State Minister for Information Dr Murad Hasan, publisher and owner of Joyeeta Prokashoni Yeasin Kabir Joy and cover designer Shahriar Khan Barna, among other, addressed the function while editor of book and chairmen of Canadian University of Bangladesh and Padma Bank Chowdhury Nafiz Sarafat joined the function through online.

Hasan said the ‘Digital Bangladesh’ has been materialized under the dynamic leadership of Bangabandhu’s worthy daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina while the Premier’s ICT advisor Sajeeb Wazed Joy is the architect of the ‘Digital Bangladesh’.

The information minister said in 2008 the Premier told about the dream of ‘Digital Bangladesh’ to help join the country with the fourth industrial revolution and to digitalize the country and the society as well. “The country could not join the past three industrial revolutions in proper time. We joined with the first industrial revolution after 100 years of inventing steam engine while joined with the second revolution after some decades of inventing electricity and joined with the third revolution after years of discovering computer,” he added.

He said the country gave the slogan of ‘Digital Bangladesh’ in 2008 while the neighbouring country India gave it in 2014. Even, the United Kingdom gave the slogan of digitalization after Bangladesh, he added.

The information minister said the country joined the fourth industrial revolution on just time for the Prime Minister’s worthy son, internationally famed IT expert and also future leader Sajeeb Wazed Joy’s conception. But, many people failed to understand the theme, he added.

“Digital Bangladesh is now not a dream, but a reality. Today, we can understand the need of creating a ‘Digital Bangladesh’ when we are not able to move like before due to the outbreak of Coronavirus”, said Hasan, also Awami League joint general secretary.

He said the students are doing classes through online and business are also conducted through online. And Digital Bangladesh is bringing citizen services to people’s doorsteps, he added.

The information minister said now a father is getting money from his son from abroad through mobile, the students are getting their exams results through return SMSs and they can apply to any university online for admission. And this is ‘Digital Bangladesh’, outlined Hasan.

He congratulated Sajeeb Wazed on his birthday and said, “I would like to congratulate the grandson of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and worthy son of our leader, President of Awami League and four times elected Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Sajeeb Wazed Joy on his 50th birthday. He did his masters in Computer Science from the Harvard University, which is the dream of all students. His right directives and leadership are needed for Bangladesh. He will take the country forward in future as he has taken Bangladesh forward by showing the dream of Digital Bangladesh.”

State Minister Dr Murad congratulated Sajeeb Wazed Joy on his birthday and said, “Sajeeb Wazed has worked as a craftsman to build a digital Bangladesh, he has been also working tirelessly to build the ‘Sonar Bangla’ to materialize the dream of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu. We are with him.”

The information minister thanked the publisher, editor and designer and other concerned.
