112 more positive tests for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, July 27, 2020 (BSS) – More 112 people were tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) today at two COVID-19 laboratories in Rangpur division.

Health officials said the 112 new infected cases were reported after diagnosing 470 samples collected from all eight districts in the division at the two laboratories in Rangpur and Dinajpur today.

Of them, 35 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory today at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The new 35 patients include 11 each of Rangpur and Lalmonirhat, four of Gaibandha, eight of Kurigram and one of Dinajpur districts,” said Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu.

On the other hand, 77 more new patients were reported after diagnosing 282 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The 77 new COVID-19 patients include 43 of Dinajpur, six of Nilphamari, 13 of Thakurgaon and 15 of Panchagarh districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Shibesh Sarker told BSS after completing the testing process at 7:50 pm.

Talking to BSS, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the total number of COVID-19 patients stridently rose to 5,802 as 112 new cases were reported from across the division today.

“The district-wise break up of the total 5,802 patients currently stands at 1,638 in Rangpur, 284 in Panchagarh, 632 in Nilphamari, 356 in Lalmonirhat, 445 in Kurigram, 348 in Thakurgaon, 1,481 in Dinajpur and 618 Gaibandha of the division,” he added.
