Two drug dealers killed in city’s Diabari ‘gun fight’

DHAKA, July 24, 2020 (BSS)- Two drug dealers were killed in a ‘gun fight’ with the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Diabari area of capital in the early hours of today.

The drug dealers are identified as Ibrahim Khalil,45, and Omar Faruq,34.

The incident took place around 2:30am when a team of RAB-1 tried to stop speedy bike of the due, but instead of stopping their bike they tried to flee the spot firing on RAB, said Md Kamruzzaman, senior assistant superintendent of police in RAB-1.

He said RAB retaliated for their self-protection, ensuing a gun fight in which the drug peddlers received bullet injuries.

Subsequently, the injured duo were taken to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital where on-duty doctors declared them dead, he said, adding that a member of the RAB was also injured in the gun battle.

RAB recovered two foreign pistols with nine rounds of ammunition, four magazines, 3,090 Yaba tablets and three mobile phone sets and also seized their motorcycle from the spot.

According to RAB sources, there are 15 cases against Ibrahim Khalil and 14 cases against Omar in different police stations of the capital including Tongi police station.

The bodies have been kept at Suhrawardy Hospital for autopsy.
