Charge sheet against Shahed very soon: Asaduzzaman

DHAKA, July 19, 2020 (BSS) – Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal
today said charge will be framed soon against Regent Group Chairman
Mohammad Shahed Karim, arrested over issuing of fake coronavirus test
reports and extracting exorbitant fees in the name of treatment.

“Shahed, who was arrested for cheating people, will be given charge
sheet very soon . . . Besides all cases against him and his
accomplices are being investigated,” he told newsmen after ‘the
programme of cheques distribution for journalists’ at the Press
Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) here.

The minister said, “Police are doing what they have to do. He got
bails in several cases. But we will now look into all the cases filed
against him. He must face punishment. No criminals will be spared any
way.”

Replying to a query of journalist, he said, Shahed has committed a
serious crime in the name of Corona tests. He tarnished country’s
image and for this, he has been arrested. All the networks of his
deception have been cut off.

“We have taken Shahed’s issue very seriously,” he added.

Referring to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s relentless efforts
to establish rule of law in the country, Kamal said the enforcement
agencies are working to find out the other people involved and
remained behind the scene as well.

About the premier’s support to the helpless people soon after the
outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic which has wreaked havoc on the
lives and livelihood, the home minister said, the daughter of Father
of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman stood by the needy
people.

Wajed presided over the programme.

Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) president Mollah
Jalal, secretary general Shaban Mahmud, Dhaka Union of Journalists
(DUJ) president Quddus Afrad and general secretary Sazzad Alam Khan
Topu, among others, were present.
