Trader fined Tk 2 lakh for cheating consumers in Rangpur

RANGPUR, July 18, 2020 (BSS) – A trader was fined Taka 24,000 today for cheating consumers by preserving and selling date-expired essential goods and other products at Badarganj Bazar in Badarganj municipal town of the district.

“On a tip off, a joint team of the Crime Prevention Specialised Company (CPSC) of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 and the Department of National Consumer Rights Protection in a sudden drive fined the trader,” a press release said this evening.

The team fined owner of ‘Messrs Mohaimine and Brothers’ Moazzem Hossain Taka two lakh for violating sections 43/44/51 of the Consumers’ Right Protection Act, 2009 by preserving date-expired products at its Godown and selling those to consumers.

Assistant Director of the Department of National Consumer Rights Protection for Rangpur Afsana Pervin and its Assistant Director Md. Borhan Uddin with officials of the elite force conducted the drive, the release added.
