Govt continues to distribute relief goods amid COVID-19 pandemic: KM Khalid

MYMENSINGH, July 18, 2020 (BSS)- State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid today said the government has been continuing distribution of essential relief goods and financial assistance among the unemployed, distressed, poor and different professionals under the directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina amid coronavirus pandemic.

He said this while addressing a cheque distribution programme held this noon at the auditorium of Muktagacha Upazila Parishad organised by the upazila administration.

The State Minister distributed cheques among 109 teachers and employees of the non-Monthly Payment Order (MPO) schools and colleges of Muktagacha upazila. As part of the assistance, each of the teachers got the cheque for Taka five thousand and each of the employees got the cheque for Taka two thousand five hundred.

Chaired by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shubarna Sarker, the function was attended, among others, by Upazila Vice-Chairman Alhaj Md Arab Ali, Upazila Education Officer Shahadat Hossen, Vice-president of upazila Awami League Azizul Haque,President of Muktagacha Press Club Md. Nazrul Islam.

“The Prime Minister has been working round the clock to reduce people’s sufferings caused by COVID-19 pandemic and continuing relief distribution across the country as part of her humanitarian assistance,” Khalid said,

He called upon all to pray to the Almighty Allah for a long life and sound health of our Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The minister urged all to follow the health code or guidelines regularly given by the Ministry of Health like washing hands, using masks and maintaining social distancing for personal safety.

Later, the State Minister distributed 16 Singer sewing machines among the trained women under the Annual Development Programme (ADP).
