Sadhan for making food safety authority more dynamic
DHAKA, July 15, 2020 (BSS) – Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder today said the ongoing activities of the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority need to be strengthened and made more dynamic.
He made the remarks at a meeting organized by the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority here through a video conferencing from his official residence.
Sadhan said, the Safe Food Act was made in 2013 and the Bangladesh Safe Food Authority was established in 2015 to keep people free from food adulteration.
He also said, Bangladesh Safe Food Authority chairman needs to be more vigilant as no one can make or sell adulterated food.
Highlighting the need for setting up of modern laboratories and training to officials concerned, Sadhan said, the more testing laboratories would be set up in each district, the more food could be tested.
Among others, Chairman of Bangladesh Safe Food Authority, Director General of the Department of Food and senior officials of the Food Ministry were present at the meeting.
