PCR lab to be set up at Natore hospital

NATORE, July 12, 2020 (BSS) – The government has decided to set up a PCR lab with operational manpower in Natore to render better treatment to COVID-19 patients.

This was disclosed at a view exchange meeting in Natore on health management and relief activities and law and order in tackling the corona infection situation on Saturday afternoon in the Deputy Commissioner’s conference room.

The meeting was informed that high level central oxygen supply system and ICU beds will be set up at Natore Sadar Hospital very soon to make corona treatment more effective.

It was informed at the meeting that so far 281 cases of corona virus have been detected after testing samples of 4,395 persons in the district and 97 of them have already been released from the hospitals after being fully recovered.

Activities are being carried out as per the 31-point directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in coordination with the District Committee on Corona Virus Control and Prevention and all the concerned departments of the district, the meeting was told.

It was said at the meeting that so far, 2,255 tonnes of rice and relief worth Tk 1.56 crore have been distributed in the district.

Besides, 14,000 tonnes of rice have been distributed at Tk 10 per kg under special OMS and food-friendly programs among a total number of 4.75 lakh families.

886 mobile courts have been set up to distribute health care materials, create public awareness and ensure health rules, and 2,122 people have been fined a total amount of Tk 44.28 lakh for violating health and hygiene rules.

It was informed at the meeting that coronary alternative education activities have already become popular for the secondary level students of the district.

The program is being broadcast through the cable operators based on the subjects held by the best teachers in the district.

The live classes are then uploaded to the district administration’s YouTube channel-so that any student can watch them at any time.

The meeting reviewed the possibility of floods in the district and said that so far, the only river in the district, Atrai, is flowing at 16 cm above the danger level.

Muhammad Yamin Chowdhury, Secretary, Statistics and Information Management Department in charge of the district, was present as the chief guest at the meeting

Deputy Commissioner Md. Shahriaz presided over the meeting.

Shafiqul Islam Shimul, General Secretary of District Awami League and Member of Parliament for Natore-2 (Natore Sadar and Naldanga) constituency addressed the meeting through video conference.

District Awami League President Abdul Quddus, MP, Md Shahidul Islam, MP, Member of Parliament for Reserved Women’s Constituency (Natore-Naogaon) Ratna Ahmed, Superintendent of Police of Natore Liton Kumar Saha, Civil Surgeon Dr. Kazi Mizanur Rahman, Natore District Council Chairman Advocate Sajedur Rahman Khan, Natore Municipality Mayor Uma Chowdhury, District Awami League Joint General Secretary Syed Mortoza Ali Bablu, Natore Press Club President Jalal Uddin and others were also present , among others.
