Maleque for ensuring healthcare services smoothly amid COVID-19 pandemic

DHAKA, July 11, 2020 (BSS) – Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque today said healthcare service providing organizations must extend treatment facilities to the people, who are suffering from various diseases, amid coronavirus pandemic.

“No vaccine is yet developed despite frantic efforts of scientists across the globe. We have to make healthcare services available for all up to the grassroots level,” he told a virtual meeting on the occasion of the World Population Day, an official release said.

Secretary of Health Service Division Md Abdul Mannan, Director General of Directorate of Family Planning Shahnara Banu, officials and representatives of different local and international organizations, among others, addressed the meeting.

This year, the theme of World Population Day is – “Putting the brakes on Covid-19: how to safeguard the health and rights of women and girls now”.

The health minister said physicians and health workers from national level to union level and 18,000 community clinics are working with dedicated mindset to make healthcare service available for all.

He also said that 52,000 healthcare workers of Directorate of Family Planning are making good contribution to the health sector in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.
