Rezaul for selling sacrificial animals online amid COVID-19
DHAKA, July 09, 2020 (BSS) – Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim today urged all to buy and sell sacrificial animals using online platforms amid the coronavirus pandemic.
“Online marketing of sacrificial animals have to be ensured up to grassroots levels to halt the spread of COVID-19,” he said.
The minister stated this while addressing a virtual meeting on online buying and selling of cattle and transportation of cattle through Bangladesh Railway at his ministry’s office at the Secretariat here, an official release said.
He advised all field level officials of the livestock departments to help marginal farmers in this regard especially in determining the prices of cattle online.
The minister said that cattle can also be transported by rail or truck at low cost as an alternative and to this end, the concerned officials of livestock departments will fix the route and schedule of the transportation.
The minister said the government has taken necessary steps, including setting up mobile courts, to stop all sorts of extortion over selling and buying sacrificial animals.
