Afghan forces kill 16 militants in eastern Laghman province
MEHTERLAM, Afghanistan, July 6, 2020 (BSS/XINHUA) – At least 16 militants were killed as government forces ambushed a group of Taliban fighters in the eastern Laghman province on Monday, a senior security official General Ghulam Haider Rahmanzoi said.
Talking to reporters here, the official asserted that security forces including army and police, acting on tip off laid ambush on the Taliban militants on Kabul-Jalalabad highway in Sarkando Baba area early Monday morning killing 16 insurgents on the spot and wounding six others.
A Taliban senior commander Qari Rohullah is also among those injured in the firefight, the official further said.
Rahmanzoi also showed some bodies of the Taliban militants to the reporters.
The Taliban outfit has yet to make comment.
