Highest 92 positive tests for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, July 5, 2020 (BSS) – The highest number of 92 more people
were tested positive for coronavirus in a day after testing their
samples today at the two COVID-19 Laboratories in Rangpur and Dinajpur
of Rangpur division.

Health officials said the new 92 infected cases were reported after
diagnosing 376 samples collected from all eight districts in the
division at the two laboratories.

Of them, 70 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples
at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in
Rangpur city.

“The new 70 patients include 30 of Rangpur, 11 of Gaibandha, 16 of
Lalmonirhat, 10 of Kurigram and three of Nilphamari districts,” Chief
of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and
Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu said.

Besides, 22 more new patients were reported after diagnosing 188
samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College
(MARMC) in Dinajpur.

“The 22 new COVID-19 patients include 19 of Dinajpur, two of
Nilphamari and one of Panchagarh districts,” Principal of MARMC
Professor Dr. Shibesh Sarker told BSS after completing the testing
process at 7:10 pm.

Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur
division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the total number of COVID-19 patients
rose to 3,446 as 92 new cases were reported from across the division
today.

“The district-wise break up of 3,446 patients stands at 1,091 in
Rangpur, 152 in Panchagarh, 412 in Nilphamari, 172 in Lalmonirhat, 221
in Kurigram, 225 in Thakurgaon, 758 in Dinajpur and 415 in Gaibandha
of the division,” Dr. Siddiqui said.
