Expatriates continue sending remittances amid COVID-19: Imran

DHAKA, July 05, 2020 (BSS) – Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Imran Ahmed today congratulated the expatriate workers for continuing to send remittances despite the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Despite the coronavirus pandemic, Bangladeshi workers working abroad have sent remittances of USD 18.2 billion to the country in the 2019-20 fiscal year which is a great news for the economy of Bangladesh, a press release said today.

The minister said the expatriate workers are sending their hard-earned foreign currencies to the country imbued with the patriotism.

Emphasizing on the need for sending their income to the country legally, he reiterated that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government will always stand by the expatriate workers for their overall welfare.
