75 positive tests for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, July 2, 2020 (BSS) – The highest number of 75 more people
were tested positive for coronavirus in a day after testing their
samples today at the two COVID-19 Laboratories in Rangpur and Dinajpur
of Rangpur division.

Health officials said the new 75 infected cases were reported after
diagnosing 376 samples collected from all eight districts in the
division at the two laboratories.

Of them, 34 new patients were reported after diagnosing 180 samples
at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in
Rangpur city.

“The new 34 patients include 24 of Rangpur, four of Gaibandha, five
of Lalmonirhat and one of Kurigram districts,” Chief of Divisional
Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of RpMC
Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu said.

Besides, 41 more new patients were reported after diagnosing 188
samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College
(MARMC) in Dinajpur.

“The 41 new COVID-19 patients include the highest number of 36
people of Dinajpur in a day and five of Nilphamari districts,”
Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Shibesh Sarker told BSS after
completing the testing process at 8 pm.

Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur
division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the total number of COVID-19 patients
rose to 2,919 as 75 new cases were reported from across the division.

“The district-wise break up of the patients stands at 982 in
Rangpur, 146 in Panchagarh, 353 in Nilphamari, 122 in Lalmonirhat, 149
in Kurigram, 206 in Thakurgaon, 674 in Dinajpur and 287 Gaibandha
districts in the division,” Dr. Siddiqui said.
