BDRCS distributing Tk 1.71cr among families in 3 flood-hit districts

DHAKA, July 02, 2020 (BSS) – The Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) has started distributing Taka 1.71 crore among the families in the flood-hit Kurigram, Jamalpur and Gaibandha districts of the country.

Under the Forecast-based Financing (FbF) project run by BDRCS, a total of Tk 1.71 crore will be distributed among 3,800 families (4,500 Tk per family) in those flood-hit districts and BDRCS has already started the implementation, a press release said here today.

The Red Crescent authorities said that all kinds of advance preparations have been made to deal with the floods, the release added.

This money is being reached directly to the beneficiaries through mobile banking system in collaboration with Bangladesh Postal Department.

Of the beneficiaries, special priority is given to the disabled persons, elderly people, widows and other vulnerable groups.

The distribution of the money among the flood-affected people will continue till July 4, 2020, a project officials said.

A total of 1400 families in Chilmari, Ramna union of Chilmari upazila and Hatia union of Ulipur Upazila of Kurigram District,1,000 families from Kapasia union of Sundarganj upazila, Mollarchar and Kamarjani unions of Gaibandha Sadar upazila and Erendabari union of Fulchhari upazila in Gaibandha district will get the aid.

Besides, 1400 families of Chukaibari union of Dewanganj upazila, Kulkandi and Belgachha unions of Islampur upazila in Jamalpur district will receive the help from the Red Crescent authorities.
