DHAKA, June 25, 2020 (BSS) – In the last 10 years, more than 66.33 lakh job seekers from Bangladesh have gone abroad for employment which is 60 percent of the total employment of Bangladeshis in abroad.
At present, more than 1.20 crore migrant workers are working in 178 countries around the world, this was revealed the socio-economic policy statement (2020-21 to 2022-23) published by the macroeconomics division of finance department of the Ministry of Finance.
It also said the government is working to find new destinations for the employment of Bangladeshi labour in abroad as well as to ensure overall welfare of expatriate Bangladeshis.
Stating that foreign employment is being severely hampered due to lockdowns in many countries of the world, the policy statement said that the government has also continued its diplomatic efforts to secure jobs for expatriate Bangladeshis.
