Robi CEO appointed as director of Nepal’s Ncell

DHAKA, June 22, 2020 (BSS) – Robi managing director and chief executive officer Mahtab Uddin Ahmed has been appointed as the director of Nepal’s leading mobile phone operator Ncell.

Board of Directors of Ncell has approved the appointment, said a Robi press release today.

It said the appointment of Mahtab signified the growing reliance of Bangladeshi talents in Axiata Group which holds controlling stake in both Robi in Bangladesh and Ncell in Nepal.

Within ASEAN and South Asia, Axiata Group has controlling stakes in market-leading mobile and fixed operators in the region, including Celcom in Malaysia, XL in Indonesia, Dialog in Sri Lanka, Robi in Bangladesh, Smart in Cambodia and Ncell in Nepal.

Mahtab became the first home grown managing director and chief executive officer of Robi on November 1, 2016.

Mahtab is currently the President of the Association of Mobile Telecom Operators of Bangladesh (AMTOB) and an executive committee member of the Foreign Investors’ Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). He is also a member of National Council of Institute of Cost and Management Accountant of Bangladesh (ICMAB).
