Quader asks people to keep trust in PM amid COVID-19

DHAKA, June 15, 2020 (BSS) – Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today urged the country’s people to keep trust in the courageous leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

He came up with the call while speaking at a virtual press briefing on contemporary affairs from his official residence here.

Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, said united efforts are needed in creating mass awareness and strengthening virus preventive measures to remain safe from coronavirus infection.

“Let us help each other to this end with the relentless efforts of the government,” he said, adding that everyone must be aware of the consequences of coronavirus transmission.

Asking people to get themselves tested willingly and stay in self-isolation once they have COVID-19 syndromes, Quader said: “Protecting yourself, your family and society is the key in this regard.”

He said the coronavirus transmissions are going up day by day, while the death toll from the COVID-19 is on the rise.

AL senior leader Mahammed Nasim, State Minister for Religious Affairs Sheikh Md Abdullah, former Sylhet city mayor Badar Uddin Kamran, many politicians, noted educationists, businessmen and other professionals have already died of COVID-19, he said.

The AL general secretary expressed deep shock at their deaths and prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls.

“We have worriedly observed that Bangladesh has ranked 10th in virus transmission among 215 countries, while it placed 18th in the total number of COVID-19 patients and 31st in the total death toll from the COVID-19,” he said.

Quader said the government has been working round-the-clock to tackle the coronavirus pandemic despite having limitations.

“Let us make our homes the forts of conscious and keep trust in Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina (amid the ongoing coronavirus crisis)” he added.
