Rape accused killed in gun fight with RAB in Ctg
CHATTOGRAM, June 15 (BSS) – An alleged rapist was killed in a gunfight with members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Mia Bazar area under Banshkhali upazila of the district early today.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Majid, 30, a resident of the upazila.
Mahmudul Hasan Mamun, assistant director (Media) of RAB-7 said that the incident happened early this morning when a patrol team of RAB-7 conducted the drive in Mia Bazar area to arrest Majid.
Sensing presence of the RAB members, the criminals fired on them, forcing them to retaliate. Later, bullet-hit body of the rape accused was recovered from the spot.
A country made gun and six bullets also were recovered from the spot.
Majid with his two accompanies allegedly raped a girl in Bailchhari area of the upazila on April 28, said Major Md. Mushfiqur Rahman, camp commander of RAB-7.
