Renewal of firearms e-license begin in Khulna

KHULNA, June 14, 2020 (BSS)- Khulna district administration here today begins the renewal process of firearms e-license at the conference room of Khulna Deputy Commissioner office.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan inaugurated the programme virtually from Dhaka as the chief guest with Deputy Commissioner of Khulna Md Helal Hossain in the chair.

Lawmaker of Khulna-2 constituency Sheikh Salahuddin Jewel joined the meeting from Dhaka as the inaugural speaker through online while Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khaleque joined as special guest from Khulna.

Khulna Divisional Commissioner Dr Muhammad Anwar Hossain Howlader, Police Commissioner Dr Khondokar Lutful Kabir, DIG Dr Mohiuddin and high officials of local government bodies, joined the online event, among others.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said the common people of the country are getting the benefits of digital Bangladesh now while staying at home. As a result, the beneficiaries will be able to do their license renewal works from home and the activities will serve as a landmark step in the country’s digital history, he said.

“In this regard, an online database of all firearms will be made so that the law enforcement agencies will be able to monitor the firearms easily,” he said, adding that the process will begin in all districts in phases.

Later, on behalf of the Home Minister, KCC Mayor distributed the e-license of firearms among the beneficiaries.

In the first phase, a total of 1,006 e-licenses of firearms among 2,561 will be distributed in Khulna district.
