44 more positive tests for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, June 8, 2020 (BSS) – Forty-four more people were tested
positive for coronavirus today at the two COVID-19 Laboratories in
Rangpur and Dinajpur of Rangpur division.

Health officials said the new 44 infected patients were reported
after diagnosing 376 samples at the two laboratories.

Of them, 29 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples
at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in
Rangpur city.

“The new patients include 19 of Rangpur, four of Gaibandha, three of
Kurigram, two of Lalmonirhat and a patient of Dhaka in Rangpur” said
Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and
Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu.

On the other hand, 15 new patients were reported after diagnosing
188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical
College (MARMC) in Dinajpur.

“The 15 new COVID-19 patients include right of Dinajpur, three of
Nilphamari and four of Panchagarh districts,” Principal of MARMC
Professor Dr. Shibesh Sarker told BSS.

Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for
Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the total number of COVID-19
patients rose to 1,433 as 44 new cases were reported from across the
division.

“The district-wise break up of 1,433 COVID-19 patients stands at
502 in Rangpur, 91 in Panchagarh, 159 in Nilphamari, 51 in
Lalmonirhat, 79 in Kurigram, 144 in Thakurgaon, 323 in Dinajpur and 84
Gaibandha districts in the division,” Dr. Siddiqui said.
