HC stays bail of Rana Plaza owner in graft case
DHAKA, June 8, 2020 (BSS) – The High Court (HC) today stayed a bail
given to Rana Plaza owner Sohel Rana in a case lodged over amassing
illegal wealth.
A virtual bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder passed the order
after holding hearing on a plea filed by Anti-Corruption Commission
(ACC) against the lower court order that granted Rana bail.

hearing, while deputy attorney general AKM Amin Uddin Manik and
assistant attorney general Qazi Shamsunnahar Kona appeared for the
state. Advocate Md Alamgir Hossain and Md Kaiser Jahid stood for Rana.
“A lower court on May 17 granted Rana bail in the case. We had
challenged that order before the High Court and the court today stayed
the bail order after hearing the case,” ACC counsel Khurshid Alam Khan
said.
ACC filed the case against Sohel Rana on December 31, 2017, with
Savar Model Police Station for amassing illegal wealth of Taka 2.54
