3 human traffickers remanded over Libya carnage

DHAKA, June 08, 2020 (BSS) – A Dhaka court today put three human
traffickers on five-day remand each in two cases lodged over human
trafficking and the recent killings of 26 innocent Bangladeshis in
Libya.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Baki Billah remanded Badshah Miah,
Jahangir Miah and Liakat Sheikh alias Lipu as police produced them
before the court and pleaded to put Badshah and Jahangir on 10-day
remand in case 3 (6) 20 and Lipu on seven-day remand in case 7 (6) 20
filed with Paltan Police Station.

Meanwhile, the same court today sent Akbar Ali and Nazmul Hasan to
jail in a human trafficking case filed with Tejgaon Police Station.

Human traffickers recently shot 30 people including 26 Bangladeshis
dead in Mizdah, Libya and left 11 others injured in the attack. All
the victims were trafficked to the war-torn African state en route to
Europe.

Law enforcing agencies after the incident launched a coordinated
drive against the human trafficking gangs across the country.
