29 more positive tests for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, May 31, 2020 (BSS) – Twenty-nine more people were tested positive for coronavirus today at the two COVID-19 laboratories in Rangpur and Dinajpur of Rangpur division.

Health officials said the new 29 infected patients of six northern districts were reported today after diagnosing 372 samples at the two laboratories.

Of them, 12 new infected patients of Rangpur, Gaibandha and Kurigram districts were reported today after diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The 12 new patients include six of Rangpur city, one of Gangachara upazila in Rangpur, three of Sadullapur and Gobindaganj upazilas in Gaibandha and two of Ulipur upazila in Kurigram” Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM NurunnabiLyzu told BS at 7:25 pm.

Meanwhile, 17 new patients of Dinajpur, Thakurgaon and Panchagarh districts were reported today after diagnosing 184 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur.

“The new cases include 12 of Debiganj, Tentulia and Atwari upazilas in Panchagarh, two of Baliadangi upazila in Thakurgaon and three of Sadar upazila in Dinajpur,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. ShibeshSarker told BSS at 7:30 pm.

Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the total number of COVID-19 patients rose to 1,138 as 29 new patients were reported from six districts of Rangpur division today.

“The district-wise break up of COVID-19 patients stands at 418 in Rangpur, 80 in Panchagarh, 129 in Nilphamari, 44 in Lalmonirhat, 71 in Kurigram, 111 in Thakurgaon, 227 in Dinajpur and 58 Gaibandha districts in the division,” Dr. Siddiqui added.
