BCB Director Nazib Ahmed mourns death of Golam Rabbani Helal

DHAKA, May 30, 2020 (BSS) – Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Director
Nazib Ahmed today expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of
former national footballer and Abahani Limited Director Golam Rabbani
Helal.

In a condolence message, the BCB director recalled Helal’s
contribution to the country’s sports, saying at the death of Helal
Bangladesh football team lost a dedicated footballer.

Nazib prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed
deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

The legendary footballer, Helal, breathed his last around 12.00 noon
today at the age of 62 at Square Hospital where he was admitted on
Thursday following a brain haemorrhage.

Helal left behind his wife, two daughters and a host of relatives
and admirers to mourn his death.

He had been suffering from kidney and heart ailments for long.

The legendary footballer was laid to eternal rest at the Azimpur
graveyard following his Namaz-e-Janaza at Abahani Club ground at
4.30pm.

Helal played as a dependable player for the Abahani Football Team
from 1975 to 1987 while he played for the national team from 1979 to
1985. After his retirement, he served the Abahani Limited in different
capacities, including its director and manager.

He also served BFF as an executive committee member in 2008.
