DHAKA, May 20, 2020 (BSS) – State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed
Mojumder today said the government has ensured adequate supply of chemical
fertilizers to farmers across the country to increase production amid the
coronavirus crisis.
“Fertilizer factories under the Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation
(BCIC) continue fertilizer production maintaining the health rules. The
production has been continued for giving the highest priority to agricultural
production in the COVID-19 situation,” he said.
The state minister said this while distributing Eid gifts among the poor
on Monipur High School and College premises at Mirpur area in the city,
according to a press release.
Around 2,000 families received semai, sugar, flour, potatoes, rice and
pulses.
Kamal Mojumder said the country has adequate foodgrain stocks. “This time,
there will be no food crisis anywhere in the country as the production of
Boro paddy is good,” he added.
Calling for ensuring adequate health protection for the workers in the
factory during the COVID-19 crisis, the state minister said production
activities could be hindered if the health safety for the workers is
disrupted.
